THE GOD OF HOPE

Definitely, we all can agree that the world in our generation will be divided before and after the Covid-19 pandemic. In desperation the nations are looking for the day when the fight with this virus is finished, overcome and behind us. Nevertheless, there is hope for those who believe in God’s Word!

“For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope” (Rom 15:4).

Paul declares that all the Old Testament Scripture (“whatever was written in earlier times”) should feed our hope. The Scripture provides motivation for perseverance and gives encouragement if we seek to remain faithful in our commitment God and to do His will. The Word of God gives us hope because in it we see God’s approval of those who endured faithfully in spite of opposition and frustration (read Hebrews 11 for elaboration).

Because of Messiah’s death and resurrection, we have peace with God. Additionally, the presence of the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer confirms to us the love of God and also gives us hope and confidence that God will lead us safely through all our difficulties! “Hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us” (Rom 5:5).

Le-shanah ha-ba-a beYerushalayim (Next year in Jerusalem)” is a phrase that is often sung at the end of the Passover Seder. This phrase encapsulates that continuing flicker of hope that has sustained Jews through centuries past in the midst of times of despair. The words of our Israel’s national anthem, Hatikva, expresses the longing of our people: the hope for return to the Promised Land.

“As long as in the heart within, the Jewish soul yearns,
And toward the eastern edges, onward, an eye gazes toward Zion.
Our hope is not yet lost, the hope that is two-thousand years old,
To be a free nation in our land, the Land of Zion, Jerusalem.”

Today, we are back to the Land of our fathers. In our lifetime, we witness an unprecedented re-gathering of the Jewish people back to The Land from all corners of the earth exactly as God promises in His Word. The ancient prophecies are coming to pass right before our very eyes. Our God is the God of hope! He saved us in Messiah Yeshua, He is bringing the Jewish people back and He is preparing the world to the glorious return of His Son, our blessed Hope!

“Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit”
(Rom 15:13).

When we are looking around us, it is easy to get discouraged. The events taking place before our eyes can easily plunge us into disappointment. However, as God’s children, we can be renewed in hope through the Holy Spirit given to us.

In the middle of current turmoil, it is very important for us to learn to stop our doings to take time and be with the Lord to hear His voice. He wants to give us a personal understanding of where we are and what He is doing in our lives.

Let us keep our eyes on the God of hope!

Me and my family appreciate your friendship and support. Our prayer that Lord will fill your heart with divine hope that you might share this hope with those around you.

Many blessings from the Mount Carmel,
Andrey Teplinsky
